Application Process
Our application cycle is currently closed. The next time we will be accepting new applications will be from June 22nd – July 17th, 2020, for volunteers beginning their 2-year commitment with Streetlight in Fall 2020.
We are staying up to date with new hospital in-person visitation restrictions in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak and will update selected applicants on changes to normal interview or volunteering protocol.
From June 22nd-July 17th, you can email streetlightapplication@gmail.com to request an application.
- Applicants are encouraged to e-mail streetlightapplication@gmail.com during that time to receive a Streetlight Fall 2020 Application.
- Please read the following carefully:
- Requirements for Fall 2020 Volunteer Applicants
- Must be a UF undergraduate that will be a Sophomore or Junior for the Fall 2020 semester
- Must be available to serve for all of Fall 2020 as your first semester
- Must be able to serve with Streetlight for two years as an active UF student volunteer (Must be graduating in or after Spring 2022)
- Of note: We will not be accepting applicants enrolled in UF’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program as the clinical rotations are not conducive with the Streetlight scheduling requirements
- Additionally, we will not accept applicants enrolled in any graduate-level degree programs.
- Completed Streetlight Application
- E-mail streetlightapplication@gmail.com within June 22nd -July 17th, 2020 to request an application.
- A letter of recommendation (preferably from a health care professional, Streetlight member, or volunteer coordinator). Please have your reference e-mail their letter of recommendation to streetlightapplication@gmail.com as well, by 12:00 PM (Noon) on July 17th, 2020.
- Applicants may only apply up to two times to be considered for a volunteer position in the program.
- Applicants can only interview once to be considered for the Streetlight program. Subsequent applications will not be considered.
- Applicants will be selected for an interview with the Streetlight Director and Assistant Director during the first weeks of fall classes. We will inform applicants on our decision to offer an interview a few weeks after all applications are reviewed.
If accepted to Streetlight, we would schedule you based on your availability on one weekly Visitation or Lounge shift.
Fall/Spring Schedule
Visitation Teams (5 – 6 members per shift)
- Monday through Thursday 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.
- Friday 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Lounge Teams (8 – 9 members per shift)
- Monday through Thursday 5:30 p.m. -8:45 p.m.
Summer C Schedule
